At Messiah there are a variety of opportunities for spiritual growth. Listed here are just a few of the ongoing Bible studies available.
"Together with Jesus" session is planned with the unique needs of infants, toddlers and their parents in mind. Each Sunday, from 9:30-10:15 (in the nursery) parents and their very young children come together to learn, explore, experiment and grow in every way: physically, emotionally, intellectually, socially and most of all, spiritually. This time is meant to help support parents in their role as faith mentors to their children from infancy through age 2.
Sunday morning classes meet in the Worship Center & various conference rooms from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. each Sunday morning (between the Worship Services). Various topics are covered throughout the year. The pastor and lay leaders teach the Sunday morning classes. You are sure to enjoy these fine, Biblically-based studies.
This course is intended for adults who desire further information about the Christian faith, in a Lutheran context. This may lead to membership in the Lutheran Church or the re-affirmation of faith by previous confirmands.
There are two ladies Bible Studies one meets Wednesday mornings from 9:00am – 10:00 am and the other meets Sundays 6:00pm-8:00pm during the school year.
This group of women meet to pray for one another and the needs of our congregation on Friday at 9:00am
Tim Sternberg (former Vicar at Messiah) started an online Bible study. Rev. Tim refers to this as a cross between a pilot and a prototype since this type of Lutheran Bible study will get the church excited about the Word of God all over again.
The Bible study for this initial program is on the book of Judges. (Samson, Gideon, etc.). The online format is a combination of learning materials: the Bible, study lessons, video, music, discussion boards and the like. A person can follow the material week to week or can pace themselves as needed.
This pilot/prototype Bible study is open to everyone (materials are not geared towards small children) and specific individuals participating from around the country. As this program evolves, a lay leader could lead an on-site Bible study using the online content, having members engaging online as well. Web address for Bible study is www.his-story.us
