Pastor Richard Lofgren, 64, was born in California, grew up in Arlington, Virginia, and graduated from Yorktown Senior High School in 1977. He graduated from George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia, in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in
Developmental Psychology and a Virginia Secondary Teaching Certificate in Psychology and Sociology. He entered Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, in 1981 and graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 1986 after serving a two-year vicarage in
Hispanic ministry at Cristo El Salvador Lutheran Church, Del Rio, Texas.

He served as the Pastor of two congregations in Houston, Texas—St. John’s and Bethlehem—from 1986 to 1998, during which time he earned a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral
Counseling from Houston Graduate School of Theology.

In 1998 he moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, to study at Concordia Theological Seminary and earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Missiology degree in 2004. He served fourteen years as pastor of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Huntington, Indiana, and then accepted the call to serve as the Pastor of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Corpus Christi, Texas, in 2015. In July 2020, he became
the Pastor of Trinity Our Savior Lutheran Church when Trinity and Our Savior congregations united.

In September 2022, Pastor Lofgren was called by Messiah Lutheran Church in Boerne, Texas, to serve as their Intentional Interim Pastor. As our Intentional Interim Pastor of Messiah, Pastor Lofgren is guiding the congregation in the transition process of gaining knowledge about itself and the community and the mission and ministry to which God is calling it in order to extend a call to the next settled pastor of Messiah, Boerne.
